Want a fast way to reflect? Focus on Highs and Lows...

I have been a fan of the highs and lows format since I was introduced to it by my American coworkers a couple of years ago. I love that It adapts to so many situations of varying levels of seriousness/formality. It can encompass all types of experience, from the trivial to the serious.

I use it with my friends  when we've been on sailing trips or long distance cycle rides to reflect on the day. Great way to get the dinner table conversation started when everyone is tired and hungry, and make sure we remember that we're doing this for fun - even though it's challenging!

Highs... when we saw that beautiful view.
Lows... when it started to rain right on that horrible climb

I'm experimenting with using it at work as an informal way of guiding my team through our weekly team catch up and their monthly 1:1s with me. It's a great way of making sure those who tend to focus on the negative remember that they have achieved some great things! And will help us recognise the things that went awry and serve as a reminder to reflect on that instead of powering through to the next project...
